Get Together (WB17)

By spry on April 26, 2020 8:45 pm

Felt inspired this week by having great friends big_smile I used guitar and vox this week as my recorded elements.

Took about 30 minutes at about 4 in the morning to scratch out the lyrics, chords and vox. A couple days later I came back to it, spent 10 minutes putting a backing track with bass and drums together to record the guitar properly (drums got removed, bass very soft). 20 minutes recording guitar. 15 minutes editing the guitar so it made sense. 35 minutes recording vocal tracks. 25 minutes chopping and adjusting the vox to make sense. another 20 minutes volumizing and putting some ambient fxs on. Total work time about 2 hours 40 minutes

Lyrics:

When you're not here I do my best to carry on
When you return our time together only lasts so long

So I gather what I need for your return
While contemplating patience I may never learn

Cause when you and me
Get together
It's always a good time
And we are better
When our stories rhyme
You see, together
It's always a good time
And we are better
When our stories rhyme

35 minutes recording vocals for this is super impressive, great stuff

WOW - so great to hear you sing and play guitar, crazy you can do stuff so quickly, I don't get it!!!

So wholesome. Great job.

Thanks! It was one of those things where 90% of what I put down was total trash and I wasn't sure I would be able to save it :X

big_smile I'm glad you enjoy it. It's my secret formula for life and I'll share it if you promise to use it wisely - you have to get ready to get ready before you get ready and by the time you are ready you've already done all the hard work!

AHHH!  You are so right.  This is one of my problems, the cables and cords are all over the place, the guitar strings need to be changed, I can't find the right picks, the microphone stand has the wrong clip, I need to create a DAW blank template that has my favorite EQs and compressors already set up - I need to spend the time to watch the tutorial videos on the mastering software, I need to write down the composition notes for future reference - awesome advice, thank you!

...implementing it is another thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

smile

Implementing it is indeed a different thing. I should really take my own advice from time to time :-X
