Depths of Sanity (WB33)

This one was created out of frustration I suppose.

Used MS2000 to record pad synth and recorded my voice obvs.

Spent about an hour putting together a chord structure and writing in the drum loops, 45 minutes deciding on a structure while writing lyrics, 20 minutes recording synth loops off the MS, 25 minutes arranging the synth track, 30 minutes recording vocal takes, 30 minutes arranging vocal takes into a single vocal line and then set it down for the evening. Came back the next day and spent 20 minutes to double the vocal track with one sharpened and fxed the other. Ended up recording a funny microcphone stand ding during the dead space on the vox track and shopped it into the breakdowns as a rhythmic accent which took 10 minutes. 1 hour and 30 minutes of listening, mixing, adjusting, repeating, 30 minutes of putting in master filter and fx, 20 minutes adjusting volumes and finally done.  Total work time about 6 hours 20 minutes!

Lyrics:

I'm making it easier on myself
By making it harder in the short term
Making Sacrifices
For no one

I'm pulling the gloves back off the shelf
And putting them on to take another swipe at
Hitting the target
At Second Chances

This one's for me
I'm going to do it on my own
No need to seek out validation
This one's for me
I'm going to do it on my own
I'm going to do it without consternation

Altogether a solid piece. Hope you got it out of your system.

I love the ping ponging lines at the beginning - they contrast so well with the rest of the pad textures and are just right into the mix. This fat bass is awesome. I wanted to be able to hear the lyrics a little more but that was a nice track.
