Dark Days (WB01)

By spry on January 3, 2020 7:32 am

Boy is it nice to be back! This year I've decided to take on an additional challenge on top of the one track a week as I have in years past. This year I will be trying to add in at least one recorded audio element to each song!

In the past I have done the one hour song and streamlining the song writing workflow challenge to myself and I learned a whole lot through the experience. That was a bit of a challenge which required taking some short cuts with midi instruments and I'd like to incorporate new elements into the workflow. I will be attempting to keep my songs to a single session of work and track the time it takes.

This week I gave myself some time to play around with some templates so it maybe took a little longer than I would have liked. Spent about 2 hours working through instruments and deciding on my workflow. Ended up going with my Korg MS2000 as my recorded element and I got a few loops out of it. Took another 1 and a half hours looping and sequencing parts. 20 minutesish putting fx on and mixing it together. Another 10 minutes adjusting the master chain and done! Total work time about 4 hours!

Damn, there is a lot in for 4h of work. Really like the intro.

Love the melodic elements alot, strong melodies. I was listening to it while driving home and it felt perfect while driving down the highway. Great stuff!

This is a great 'finished sounding' track, very impressive!

Super efficient!  Loving the propulsive sense of this one.

Damn, this is some clean production. Great vibe.

Great to see you back and I love your new idea.  That's a great way to broaden your palette!
