I listened to Ultra by Evian Christ and got all obsessed with ambient trance so I decided to make one of those tracks and this is what I ended up with
obviously not as detailed in terms of arrangement but I am a lazy tracker

I actually just dropped the bass note of the pattern from I to the vi below - it's a really easy (almost too easy, judging by how often I rely on it) way to add drama to a moment that you're trying to sell
basically all of my melodic stuff is just messing with the tonic and the submediant
