Weird Piano Ideas (VRC7)

By Snyderman on March 17, 2024 11:08 pm

Really long week at work, felt like I barely recuperated by Sunday. Feels like a theme the last few weeks.

This is a sketch, it's a collection of short ideas. It's definitely not a song. I find that I often overthink and self-edit too much so I figured I'd figuratively put pen to paper and just get the ideas out.

I used just the NES' VRC7, which is basically the OPLL with 6 channels instead of 9, and slightly different preset patches. I used just piano across the 6 channels.

Classical music, videogames, stranger chords and arpeggios, more free rhythm. I wanted to explore some of my tendencies and where I gravitate when I first start out with a blank page or just a keyboard in front of me. Like last week, there's some cool ideas and some ideas that don't work as well but I like to look back at prior weeks with the separation of time and judge what worked more objectively.

I intend to return to more musical stuff soon though.

Now knowing this is the VRC7 piano patch is cool.
