The Thing That Stuck to the Wall!

By sleepside on January 25, 2026 10:48 pm

What's that, lurking against the far wall there? It's icky. It's sticky. It's oozing our way! Someone, call the authorities, that *thing* cannot be stopped!

This week was hard to get anything I wanted to build on past 8 bars. Finally settled on some acid techno (tech house? idk, I'm bad with the balkanization of electronic music genres). Made on my Dirtywave M8.

The movie clips are from "Night of the Blood Beast" (1958). Like many Corman-produced movies, this one is public domain due to the producers not bothering to pay for copyright extension with the Library of Congress.

The "whistle" is the re-pitched sound of the plumbing pipes screams at an old apartment. The rising "spaceship" sound is from my Casio SA-39's "Cosmic Sound."

All other sounds are internal M8 synth engines, including the kick, which is a preset made by Avrilcadabra

Thank you!

(Also, I stg, every time I try to make techno, it comes out as house. Did not even notice until your comment that the bell is a syncopated 2-4. I give up, this is a House household now big_smile)

Fun track.  The movie samples worked well, and it's cool you were able to incorporate something like plumbing pipes.  It was danceable, but had a bit of a creepy scary vibe as well.  It would work well at a Halloween party.

absolutely filthy and atmospheric

No idea what type of party this, can't remember why my brain feels so sluggish and I don't know how I got here, who I'm with and where I'm supposed to sleep tonight. Guess I'll just dance to this beat until I can figure a couple things out.

This is so cool! I like how chirpy your acidy baseline is. Great atmosphere and easy to enjoy

Thank you! Halloween music is some of my favorite, so this is a high compliment

Thank you! I was never cool enough to go to a club/party/rave like this growing up, so I'm glad this is able to conjure those memories anyway

Thank you! The acid bassline is the Hypersynth instrument on a Dirtywave M8. I have it set so that the initial attack fakes a square shape instead of the usual saw

Sounds like you had a lot of fun throwing things at the wall! & What Dustsucker said.
