Lullaby for Young Whelps

By sleepside on July 19, 2026 11:37 pm

Another on-call week. This time, I wrote new music for an old poem of mine about baby werewolves.

No M8 this time, instead a guitar, vox, a kalimba, a rasp, and me hitting an armrest and a balalaika case

Ooo nicest vocals I've heard from you, captures a certain richness.

I'm a total sucker for a kalimba as well. The cases give a really organic vibe sense to the pulse. You don't always want to be using something as obvious as a kit.

So cute, warm and fuzzy with a touch of melancholy, like all good lullabies.
Great job!

(The chords and voicing at 0:28 reminds me of a guitar and voice track heard in one of 2 Many DJ's mix, it might take a few days before I find it again.)

I bet baby werewolves are really cute.  This has a nice homemade feel to it.  Just sounds like a human making music.  The stripped down arrangement is cool and it allows the other textures that come in to pop out a little more.
