Recall

I sat down to make some progressive house / breakbeatish thingies on Tuesday afternoon, but went somewhere deeper. I think my mind was lurking for some nostalgic moments from my youth. Started this 1pm, finished 2am next morning. It was like one long session with couple breaks - and it felt like back in high school, when time and/or time of day was purely irrelevant, composing with fast tracker II was teh shit!

Shortly put; Trance is a state of mind. It usually takes you to a place where you once were. Or keeps you in a uplifting state. I've always looked up on great 90's trance anthems, decade(s) before it all went mainstream. Lange is one of my favourite trance producers, and this is like an homage to prolific sounds of yesteryear. I don't listen todays' mainstream, hence I can not produce anything like it. But I can go back, and do some good.

127bpm trance that would be proud of back in 2001 big_smile

Yamaha RS7000 provided the drums, intro/background strings and bubbly squelch bassline. All the other stuff comes from various vst plugins. Reaper is a helluva DAW, can't imagine faster way to gather ideas in front of a computer. It just computes.

Drop a comment, if millenial trance is your thing.

ps. had to render 192kpbs, 320 file was 17megs. smile

Lovely intro and then a very hard kick kicking me in the face! Pad is rising! gated pads coming in now very cool! Love the rolling progression, the repeated figure that comes in at 2:30. Then we get a nice spacious breakdown. We're building again...and still building! And there's the drop! Back into the main theme. Some 303ish stuff at the end for a bit of variety, and we're out. Great track!
