In Transit (Hummingbird Edit)

By skkmkk on March 28, 2026 12:30 pm

The starting point of this track was made back in fall 2025 with Yamaha RS7000. It was one of my first patterns with RS7000, and I somehow forgot it on Yamaha's hard drive.

This week I pulled it out - recording each of the 13 tracks from it, and started sewing it up in Reaper. Later this week I added some field recordings of a hummingbird from last spring. It fitted perfectly to tracks atmosphere.

Melody and building arpeggios resembels a new season - that is in my very near future, so I focused on harmonic and slow progression.

I didn't have much time to mix this one properly (LUFS are hitting the roof, audio file looks like a turd sausage), but it doesn't really matter. I managed to put out my feelings at the moment, and that's the most important thing now, music wise. Other than that, I think my 13 week streak ends now in the most beautiful sense - new life is emerging. Hope to be back later this year!

Aesthetics comes surely from The Orbital, BT and of course Artificial Intelligence album - And Warp Records in general! 90s idm ftw!

If this is your last track for a bit, what a track to go out on.
Had this on while I made breakfast and I was instantly back as a kid discovering Warp Records and those awesome 90s compilations.
It just keeps building too, that huge delayed lead around 5 mins is a treat.

Good luck with the new life/season heart
