A Beacon Of Calm

By skkmkk on April 12, 2026 8:29 pm

With this song I would like to point out that the current mind state after recent events and people in my life is like a calm safe beacon.

60/120 bpm aether aesthetic chillwaves with some mellow breaks chopped with Amigo and a simple "test run of my latest peace of gear, Cyclone Analogic Drum Drone TT-606.

It was a pleasure to build these laid back beats.

Super pleasant to listen to. Great job! Lots of great ideas, everything flowed into each other effortlessly. Only improvement I could come up with is that the drums seem very dry and close up/in your face at times. Maybe some taming of the high end or a slight room reverb could have them step back a touch - but that's a minor nitpick and, in the end, a matter of taste.
I love the patchwork of droplet-like synth sounds. Overall so hopeful, positive, playful, but also laid back. Like the beacon of calm is passionately cared for by a happy lil' community.

Thank you for super kind and creative comments! Appreciate it a lot. Droplet-like synth came pretty straight from Korg Wavestation vst, and was really the starting point of this track. I recorded that 8bar loop in fall ’25 but didn’t really figure out what to do with it back then. WB with its time pressure made me figure out some progressions, so kudos for this platform to continue and somewhat finish things.

Drums are always a mixed bag of happiness. With my cans (Sony MDR-7506) I miss some of the oomph that is more audible for example in car test (:D), and I didn’t have really time for that. I was so happy of the end result as a composition, that I could try to do something with the drums, maybe tame ’em a bit and less high end. Nevertheless, this is def going to be one track in my forthcoming lp in Bandcamp later this year.

Thanks once again!
