i am super newbie with music theory and non-4/4 time signatures. really cool to hear this and i could count the (1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6), but i'm still not at the point where i can track the other signature of 5/4. i mostly make dance music, so this is inspiring me to break out of the 4/4 a bit!
Thank you for listening! The 5/4 part is very syncopated, meaning the strong beats are placed on the "off-beats" or the "and" in the pattern 1-and-2-and-3-and-4-and-5-and. It is a 2-measure pattern with the bass drum. The bass drum is on beat 1, the and of 5, and then the and of 1 in the next measure. The snare is always on the and of 3. I wanted the listener to feel like they are on a rocking boat, so your picture makes me really happy
This track does feel like being on a boat. It takes a little time to find one's footing with the time signature but then it feels natural. I like the sense of mystery and adventure you also inject into this track.
