Well Timed

Read an interview with Rashad Becker about his mastering practice and realised I'd never tried propper mid/side processing. Had some fun here messing with effects on the "side" channel and it honestly feels like it opens up lots of possibilities. Anyone else done much of that before?

Wow, yeah the stereo effects you're getting on here are nuts.  Hard to grasp what you did on this, its very unfamiliar sounding.  The transition at around 0:40 is wild, and then whatever happened at 1:13 haha.

Got a link to the article you read?  I'd love to check it out.  Honestly the only mid/side processing I do is filtering the lows out of the side w/ linear phase EQ.  Never thought about using it as an effect.

Thanks! Yeah a few effects on the side channel gets you into some strange places very quickly!

It's really only talking about pretty standard mid/side mastering but it prompted me to try and set it up with track routing in ableton. Of course, once I had it up and running I HAD to try throwing some wacky effects on there

Sweet, thanks dude!

Wow this is fantastic. Love how full it feels, and the way it ebbs and flows.
