Somewhat Awake

By scy on July 14, 2024 11:49 pm

Visited Hacken Open Air this week, been sleep deprived a lot. The event itself was pretty intense, in good and bad ways, and to be honest I'm glad that it's over and that I can return to a bit more orderly living.

I was planning to make my track there, and use some sounds found on the campground, but lacked the time and energy to do it, so instead you're getting a decent-ish track made on the Deluge in about 3½ hours. Enjoy!

Lovely arps

I really like the mood of this one, great work!

I really like the overall mood and atmosphere. Many beautifully combined sounds in there.

I picture walking through an icy landscape, maybe it is snowing a little. You find and enter a cave which is dark but illuminated by a curious glow, and surprisingly warm. As you explore, you discover a large body of water, which ultimately leads to a sunny outside through a series of galleries and tunnels.

Thanks! This track contains some of the most "sophisticated" arpeggios I've made so far. The secret sauce is to sprinkle some extra notes in, that fit into the overall chord, and give them some random probability. Either they play (and thus create a slight variation in the arpeggio) or they don't. It's not really that hard or cumbersome, but the result is pretty interesting!

Thanks for painting that image, I've enjoyed it a lot!
