2x Korg ARP 2600m (1 unit, multitracked for two tracks)
1x Elektron Digitone
1x Elektron Analog Rytm MkII
1x Elektron Analog Heat

Mix and maybe get a little mad that for some reason there are midi mishaps throwing off the timing with the arp 2600m and wonder if it's ableton or the new toy, serve cold.

Yeah, there's some weird stuff going on with the midi being fed to or received by the korg arp 2600m, delays and missed notes both. It didn't do it with the keyboard it comes with, and it didn't do it when controlled by the M8.

Add to that the fact that Ableton crashes nearly every time I open it and try to seemingly do anything with more than a couple midi devices and far fewer in/out (was using an aggregate device with the Scarlett 18i20 and the ES-9 for months and months before this issue started cropping up) and then seemingly all at once this constant instability appears and crashes after long sessions in Ableton, though even on a few short ones? And it's gotten worse up until a couple weeks ago (see my shitpost song there too lol) when it couldn't even recover a project without crashing, and I could barely add a couple softsynths into some tracks for fear of losing even that little shitty ditty too. Gah. Sorry, rant over? I guess? But I'm in the troubleshooting phase and that means testing a LOT of conncections to devices across my desk...blah. Positive side: it is nice that I do have all my gear in one spot and I have the setup ready to go whenever. But if I can't figure out this Ableton crashfest issue, I might have to start attempting more nuclear approaches, or even switch DAWs. I hear bitwig is good?

Really great vibe with the subdued rhythm and that primary synth melody opening and closing the filter. I particularly like those dynamic moments like 2:45 where it swells and fades down and out, giving focus back to the driving bass line.

A lot of people seem to complain about Ableton crashing. Is it that unstable?

I like the Blade runner vibe/synthwave vibe of this track. You get really smooth sounds from these synths. I like the beat that is near subliminal but really contributes to the track, like a heartbeat.

I am lucky not to have issues so far when I do use ableton 11 (under MacOS hi-sierra, do own a pretty old iMac), but didn't install that many 3rd party plugins and I do not use much midi out stuff. Have a Scarlett first gen, an old Novation midi controller in USB, a Roland TD11 in USB that I do use sometimes as well as midi controller.

Good luck with that troubleshooting, setups that fails are the worse. (I have an old laptop on my rehearsal studio which have Cockos Reaper installed on, for some reason last time I practice there It wouldn't launch at all, I suspect 3rd party plugins as it seems to fail when scanning plugins)

Anyways, will take the computer back home, will do the windows updates, re-install reaper, but without any third party plugins, it is to only do some audio recording anyways, I can mix at home.

TD's minimalism is working quite well for you, so I guess you have that much to reach for at least.
