Anxious

I'm not as anxious as I might've been when I decided to do a song that evoked anxiety, but I felt like the exploration was worth the attempt. This is about equal parts DAW exploration as it is rushed job, but I feel pretty intrigued by the result. Also, somehow lost a part in the mix by getting too weird with a compressor, but I think it ended up pretty good in the end.

damn this is great, such a lush, fat mix. love the tempo shifts and glitchy IDM feel going on. those twisty, chromatic arpeggios are wiiiiild.

It doesn't really invoke anxiety as much as it could, the higher registers are too empty and there aren't enough strange whispers to nail that. It's instead a nice song.

Wannadance!

Thanks!! I think I'm getting much better at mastering/mixing!

You're absolutely right, the missing track I mentioned in the writeup also didn't bring enough higher screeching. I think I could have done more in the way of It Follows soundtrack style terror stuff to properly convey the anxiety (or really just taken more cues from horror soundtracks in general)

Only if you're willing to dance to a constantly shifting tempo!

I absolutely love the tempo changes, it's always so impressive when it's done right heart Great work!

Love the sound of that main arp synth with that extra gritty snare, nice job!
