WEEK 50 - SONG 50 - The Journey of Sturdy Ron Chiclet (feat. Rachel Austin & Conor Barry)

Contender for the longest song title this year!

This was a collaboration between myself and two friends, currently in the USA. Rachel Austin is an amazing singer and songwriter, who has recently just finished her EP "Age of Reason" recorded in Austin, Texas. Check her out: www.rachelaustinmusic.com

Conor Barry, (originally from Dublin, Ireland) is currently doing an MA in the states, he's an awesome drummer and producer of fine, totally live / free hip hop as Plus Buttons: http://plusbuttons.tumblr.com/

Rachel and Conor sent me some vocal recordings, with strange words and vocal noises. I stewed it all up in Ableton and added swinging beats / bass / keys ... the usual. Took some extra time to do 'post-edit' tweaks with lots of pitch shifting and modulation, for whacky swinging turntable style effects.

Quite chuffed with the overall errie and tripped out mood of this one.

Hope y'all like it too. smile

Below is an image of the words that Rachel and Conor used for their vocal parts:

love it!

love the 6/8 beat and the chillness of this track.. the lady's voice is lovely ;>

Oh yea. I guess it is 6/8, in a way.
Cheers for the comments peeps.

After listening to all your songs I went back to this thinking "meh, maybe it's a bit bland", but I think the mood is right overall. It's kinda like drunken downbeat / hangover hip hop. Or something.

Hmm

great stuff, like the echoed bleeps too.
