O'Saucedo

By Saucey-dough on March 15, 2020 6:09 pm

This week is a special upload to me. My 7 year old nephew and I get to hang out on a weekly basis before his guitar lessons. It is an opportunity for me to show him the "cool" side of music. I think musical lessons can sometimes be a bit stale (however, his teacher is actually pretty awesome), and actually deter kids from wanting to play instruments as it can feel like work. Our weekly meet up is an hour get together and we just play music. The last month has entailed having some fun with Logic X. Its been a really awesome tool to get him learning proper timing and singing/playing in key. He has that opportunity to listen back to what has just been created, and he gets that immediate audio feedback if it sounds right or not.

A few weeks back he had the idea of writing a song about "how awesome it is to be half Irish and half Mexican." He went on to say "we should write a song about how awesome our family is." We created an idea using logic a few weeks ago, but then it fizzled out. With St.Patrick's Day around the corner, I made it a priority for this song to be my WB 11 upload. I wrote some lyrics, created a song structure, and this is what came of it. My father (his grandfather) loved the idea and came up with an awesome last minute second verse that he help me compose.

Without further ado, Here is my nephew's world debut song "O'Saucedo."

P.S. Our band name is The Big Booger.

Haha this is sweet dude, everyone's collabing with all these kids and shit.  That's awesome that ya'lls getting him spooled up early, he's going to be wild when he's older.  Nice work on this track too, very well written and produced.  Lots of cool transitions and parts that fit together nicely.

Happy St-Patrick to you! Pretty cool stuff, the kid have attitude smile.

"Get it Nino!" Gets me everytime. Nino is short for Padrino aka godfather. He's always called me that. Love that line.

thought i commented on this yesterday?! guess not.  great idea man!  this turned out amazing, and  though the Southside parade got cancelled, this filled the Sunday void of not being involved in anything Irish.  You, the fam, and Leo will look back on this one day and it will really hit about how cool of a collab this is

Thanks bub. We've already talked about how we will all cherish this in years to come. He is an incredible kid and was incredibly proud of the outcome of this song. It has to feel good being that young and proud of a musical accomplishment. Hope this continues to instill that bug in him to keep writing/playing. Slainte!

Wow man this is awesome, what a cool concept.  Startin' them young!  Nice work to both of you.

How did I not see this. This a jam right here
