Mr. Coyote

By sad_infamy_sings on May 1, 2022 7:57 pm

v1
there is something bout the clouds above the highway, above the highway oh way up there
there is something bout the clouds above the highway, there are secrets there up in the stratosphere.

refrain
up in the stratosphere, up in the atmosphere, up in the stratosphere, up in the atmosphere

v2
mr. coyote, no, he don’t know the traffic code, now he’s in the road, he’s lying there.
mr. coyote, no, he don’t know the traffic code, now he’s in the sky, up in the stratosphere.

refrain

v3
now we all know what we’re putting in the atmosphere, it’s what we’re burning here on earth below.
it’s no secret that we’re heating up the atmosphere, this is what we’ve all feared, we’ve mined our souls,

refrain

this is a song i wrote years ago that i’d always sing on my way to work, sometimes i’d be out on a rural field in the midwest looking at the weird overcast clouds and freaky spirals, sometimes i’d be stomping over a freeway a city, one that’s all backed up with cars trying to get somewhere noisily. I’ll never forget the image of a coyote on the side of the freeway looking like he wanted to cross. I’m glad to finally get the guitar in there like i’d imagined for so long, i hope this song continues to evolve as my skill set does.

Oh that recorder is just the perfect touch with the lovely guitar & beautiful vocals.

"we've mined our souls"
Oh Mr. Coyote we owe you so many apologies...

Outstanding use of ethereal harmony with the high feathery backup vocal!  !   I caught the movement in the clouds in the pace of this.  Your voice talent is evident! I also like the "blue notes" inserted in the melody. EEK

(Not sure how I missed this and particularly mad at the shuffle algorithms for not playing this at me randomly when I was listening to WB entries at work.)

One of my favorite of yours, absolutely love everything about this: the neutral / funny -> sad / tragic -> apocalyptic lyric progression, the stereo image, the whispering high vocals, the recorder patiently waiting until the second refrain to come in. Impeccably well done -- favoriting and downloading.

Thanks emily! I'm flattered you listened to my track and liked it, when I was making it I admit I was secretly like "I hope emily hears this and likes it!" hahaha! also that gif fits super well

hahaha, it's alright- I have the worst time finding the time to listen to everyone's stuff, and I find it logs me out every couple hours, so sometimes I'll be listening and like, I'll be like O0000O i gotta comment, but then I gotta log in and I lose my place ahhhhh

thanks ilzxc!! Yeah, unlike the other stuff I've posted so far, this one I've been building up slowly over the years, I'm not even sure I'm happy with this recording of it, but happy I finally made one regardless.
