Xygloditic Wonk

By roboctopus on February 12, 2012 3:44 pm

Music got away from me this week.  I worked on 3 different tracks, none of them finished.  xD

I don't know what other people do, but I like to set goals for myself.  One of my musical goals this year (other than to not miss a Weekly Beat) is to finish an albums/EP of sort of laid back chip/live instrument hybrid.

This week I was sort of playing around with different sounds, so here's a kind of shape-shifting track with really fast acoustic guitar strumming and a wonky electric guitar sound.  I'm not really happy with the melodies, frankly, but I guess it's kind of interesting.  I'm pleased with the super heavy kick sound though.  Fast P command at first followed by a slow P command to emphasize the bottom end.  Yay.

Track made with one Game Boy, acoustic guitar, electric guitar + octave fuzz and phaser, and a badass tambourine.

Love the chord progression.

heart indeed. Very dreamy.

i'm floating away...

No way, this is great!

fuck yeah those roboctopus 7ths! love the sounds you're getting in the middle section there

awesome stuff! heart

woo! the guitar rolls off the lead like waves.  the arpeggio effect definitely works well.

you legit always impress me man... every time!

this is super relaxing, I just got off of an 8 hour shift at my horrible job and this made everything OK

you have your unique sounding! great work!

Gorgeous

This is laidback like there's no tomorrow. Like the scratchy ending too. One thing I like about WB is that the time pressure leads you to some sounds you wouldn't normally use, or at least in the same way...

Thanks guys.

@sinewave, yeah, I like the scratchy guitar at the end, and WB definitely forced me there, haha.  Running out of time, I decided to just make some spazzy noise and be done with it. I think I like the spazzy noise more than whatever guitar part might have gone there.

the contrast is great. fast strumming with half time drums dig it

F-ckin beautiful! Too short.  have to listen over and over again.  Love the blend of the acoustic guitar with the electronics.

heart

like!

That progression is really nice, good pick for the instrumentation, too smile

this track is a cyborg.
