Quarantine

By roboctopus on April 12, 2020 10:42 pm

Something a bit different this week. Here's some sort of COVID-themed bedroom indie pop I guess. I actually wanted this to be a rocking power pop track, but I don't think I have the means to record power pop haha. So I went for something more lo-fi.

Anyway, I wish it had cooler percussion, but my drum set is in the garage and I ran out of time so it's just a lame loop and some shaker.

Harmony Bobkat, Fender Jaguar bass, bad singing, shaky egg.

And here are my silly lyrics:

Here I am
in quarantine
every little cough and
every little scares me

stay back six feet
for social distancing
oh it's not a stretch I don't wanna catch
covid-19

Play D&D on Zoom
craft furniture for my Animal Crossing room
oh please don't turn on the news
I don't think I don't think I don't think I have enough booze

Here we all are
in quarantine
buying groceries online
hands dry from over-washing

Society
hangs by a string
so we must stay apart
dancers on a darkened screen

For a song like this, I don't think you want a big complex drum pattern. The beat fits perfect and the shakers give it a nice pace. Neat lyrics too.
