Once When I was Five

By roboctopus on March 23, 2014 9:57 pm

I meant to do something else but I didn't so I spent about half an hour recording this little song.

Sang and played acoustic guitar. Not very well but whatever. Added more guitars, a toy piano, and bass. For some reason, bass solo.

Lyrics!

Once when I was five
I stole my neighbor's bike
I didn't think he'd mind
so I took it for a ride
I rode it down the road
to where the city ends
and ditched my neighbor's bike
down by the river bend

We used to hang around the neigborhood
we used to hand around and hang around and hang around

But if I hang around
I think I might explode
just like we used to do with unwanted GI Joes
and I'm sorry that I did that
I miss every one of them
but just like that bike
I can't get them back again.

We used to hang around the neigborhood
we used to hand around and hang around and hang around

What a fun little song! Quite amazing for a ~30 minutes. I like your vocals by the way, I think you've got a nice voice.

Really? 30 minutes? Really lovely song. Maybe the take is not perfect, but the energy and the feeling couldn't be more positive.

I didn't write the song in 30 minutes, I just recorded it in 30 minutes, haha.

That's no mean feat in itself! It's a very fresh and breezy-sounding mix - utterly perfect for the mood of the lyrics! More like this, sweet track big_smile

as a bass player, i appreciate the little run on the bass. youve got a good voice. more songs like this need to be made so get started. smile

good, little spontaneous tune you got there. smile

Nice work.

Excellent, very refreshing! Were you kind of a punk kid, stealing bikes and blowing up toys?

I never actually stole a bike, but I did blow up GI Joes with firecrackers!
