I got an Octatrack this week. It's hella fun but boy is there a lot to wrap my head around XD
All I know really know is LSDJ, how to record audio in Reaper, and Novation Circuit. I don't even know how to use Ableton haha. So I went and bought a notoriously complex sampler, naturally.
After reading so many accounts of people getting bewildered by this machine and selling it though, it doesn't seem too bad! It's sort of like a tracker in a box. Like, the Elektron sequencer and workflow really remind me of a tracker. I'm really enjoying it so far.
That being said, I haven't had it a week and have barely scratched the surface. So here's my "I'm learning basic functions track haha.
Recorded some piano from a YouTube vid. Drums and Rhodes piano are samples that came on the Octatrack. Bass is a C64 pulse. This is only one pattern. I'm just muting/unmuting things and messing with scenes (slowdown, reverse, bit crusher, delay), and triggering the delay freeze settings. It's not interesting, but it was fun to make and I'm learning.
Can't wait to really find out what this thing can do!

Seems like you got the hang of it. Next up, resampling !
Has a cool meditative quality, looking forward to more experiments!!
Reading about your process is really interesting. The outcome of this little experiment is really nice, man! I like this a lot.
some of those scene manipulations turned out super interesting. gonna be really cool to see where you take this sounds/effects with further tracks & experiments. also how perfect that Roboctopus is using Octatrack. Gotta start tagging these as Roboctatrack.
You make sample glitches sound so...natural. As if that's what samples are supposed to do by themselves.
Well done,dig your groove!
Nice Piano sample and awesome stutter effects....
Is this straight from the octa or have you mastered in Reaper(my faved DAW)?
This sounds quite polished and interesting. "As ye mess around, so shall ye learn."
Cruisey and beautiful!!!!!
Sampled goodness, this is surprisingly calming to listen to, even with the extratone
