Soar Away

I made this nice little thing when I hooked my new DesktopSix up to my SmplTrek to test out recording MIDI tracks into LOOP tracks. It works great. The SmplTrek is great.

I don't know what happened here, I laid down a couple of loops and it was really feeling good. I just listened to this again a minute ago and it like, made me feel stuff? The fuck is that?

Ultimately this is just showing off the DesktOpsix, this thing is AWESOME. Why didn't they sell it as a desktop module from the start!?

Really liked this track, the pads are beautiful. One tiny suggestion: increase the levels a bit, it's rather quiet and the weeklybeats player doesn't have a volume control!

Thank you very much! And yes, that's a good tip with the levels. I admit I wasn't really thinking of that til now (other than worrying they're too hot) so I will find and aim for a loudness goal of some sort. -3 LUFs, right? wink

It does feel emotional. Very charming and relaxing. Feelings of "safety" i guess

I love the sound design on the pad and the way the voices weave together

Greetings, fellow FM nerd! I dig the lush sounds.

They did just release Opsix as a module! I used the plugin version this week myself.

Yeah it's kind of weird how that happened so soon after I did my kit, it must have been in the works for a while. It's such a great sounding synth!

I wish I could take credit for the sound design but I will just take credit for my excellent preset selection wink

Thank you so much smile

Second the lushness of the pads.  How is it, putting together a project like this on the smpltrek?

The SmplTrek is really nice for recording and playing back loops, though it gets a bit tricky when I'm trying to queue and stop tracks while also using the pads to play something in live big_smile I didn't use scenes for this at all, if I had taken the time to pre-earrange it really would have gone smoother for me

My smpltrek lingo is a bit rusty—does not using scenes mean this was entirely done on those 3 global tracks?  Or is a scene like a song row on M8/LSDJ?

A scene is a collection of tracks, like a song row on M8 if you were bound to only the tracks in that row. Have you ever used Gadget? It reminds me a lot of that

I did this with just one track per instrument and some quick finger work to mute/change parameters and jumping in and out of the track actively controlling the Opsix (so I could play in live). So it's a jam dressed up a song big_smile
