Unholy Ground

One take performance on the Moog Mother 32 and DFAM along with the Make Noise Strega and 0 Ctrl.  All hardware.

An exercise in minimalism.

you're so good at creating these unsettling atmospheric synth pieces! feels like exploring an ancient space burial site

This track sure as hell gave my headphones a workout, could feel them pulsing. Got rather unnerving by the end, quite enjoyed it

Brooding, original, deeply alien. I usually cannot really work with music on but your tracks work very well, they have something that make me fall into the flow. Very hypnotic. These wailing synth and the simple rhythmic pattern just work very well together.

beautifully on edge, really like it

Great atmosphere and performance! Really nice use of the Strega here.

This is great! I can hear the Mother 32 filter play smile

Ooof I love how the rhythm sounds.  Specifically that one hit every 4 notes. My brain kept goin anticipating it smile What synth handled that?  I agree with midimachine and kedbreak.  It's unsettling but so hypnotic.

really enjoyed this!

A sacrifice or shamanism going on in here. Very trippy, very good.

Thanks!  Definitely a fave realm of mine to explore.  heart

Haha, excellent.  Definitely a wide range of frequencies involved.  Glad you enjoyed!

Thanking you kind sir.  I think perhaps it's the hypnotic element that works for your multitasking?  Gets you in the zone without being obtrusive?

Thanks!  One of my fave things is working with sound that's on the edge of chaos but pulling it just back.  Glad you enjoyed!

Cheers!  The Strega is such a unique little beast.  Works nicely with the Moogs too.  smile

Thank you!  And yep, you can't go wrong with Moog filters.  So tasty!  heart

Nice.  I'm not in the studio currently but I'm pretty sure it's from the DFAM.  Thanks for listening!

Thanking you!  I enjoy bringing out the ritualistic sounds for certain tracks and yes, nicely described.  smile

It's oddly almost soothing for much of its run, but there's an unsettling undercurrent to it that puts you on edge.  It's kind of like you're half asleep in a warm comfy bed, but you keep thinking you feel a lurking presence somewhere nearby.

Yes, the comments above are spot on. Somewhat calming and for sure hypnotic, but there's an undercurrent of brooding mystery in there. Soundtrack to mystery and uncertain things happening in the dark of night. Great sounds, and great minimilist execution.

Dang!  Beautiful.  Sounds almost acoustic.  Lovely!

I really appreciate how consistently scary you are able to make your music sound. I think that is a really valuable skill and one that can be hard to narrow down.

unsettling, impressive amount of restraint in the arrangement

Haunting. Gives me BoC vibes. Love it

Big thick mood. Sounds huge, especially with the limited equipment, in one take no less. It's refreshing to hear the DFAM in such a meditative, insistent mode.

Instantly transformed to another place! Nice piece and good to hear from you!

Very enjoyable, always enjoy listening to your tracks, such a nice balance of sounds, you have a great skill of mixing in harsh sounds with delicate sounds.  Glad to hear your music again this year.  Still getting out on your mountain bike?

Love the description.  Thanks!

Thanks.  One thing I do like to practice when creating music is that.

The DFAM is great.  Great tones and is quite jammable.  I do have a little add-on box that gives it extra features which is also handy there.

Thanks for the kind words and yep, still mountain biking!  Got over to Maydena in Tasmania since last time we were here.  If you don't know it, check it out.  Sick trails!  Unfortunately though I'm off the bike currently due to an old mtb injury in 2010 where I shattered my leg.  A 2cm piece of bone has snapped off and is floating around my knee joint.  I need surgery but I'm in the public health system so it'll probably be months.  Ugh.  Sucks not being able to ride and other fitness activities.  Got music tho!  You riding still?

You guys have some great trails in Australia, would love to check it out one day.  I still ride at least once a week snow or sun, but mostly just local trails.  Did get out to the mountains in the summer once to Bragg Creek, some really fun single track trails out there.  Sadly the injuries take so long to heal now, I fractured my humerus on the left side and tore the rotator cuff in 3 spots going off some woodwork into a tree back in September 2022, thankfully could avoid surgery but the left arm is still so weak.

Definitely lots of trail options over here.  It's a big country though so they're not necessarily all close but makes for a fun trip away.  Yep, injuries suck.  That rotator cuff sounds like a bad one and it hardly ever ends well hitting a tree.  Those things just refuse to move!  Haha.  I did only slight damage to my rotator cuff last year (not bike related) and it's still not 100%.  Great you're still riding though!  I'll be doing it until I physically can't.  Being out of action currently though sucks.  I'm going to test just riding flat on the ebike soon though I reckon.  If my leg can handle that before surgery, that'll keep me sane.  Haha.

Is that the thing that counts clocks and adds the reset input? Such a good idea. Whenever I jam on the DFAM I have a great time but lament the lack of reset.

Can relate to the long trips to get to the Mountains, live in Canada, in the province of the Rocky Mountains, yet still takes 3-4 hours to reach them from Edmonton.
