Spy Vs Spy

By rdomain on February 8, 2020 1:11 pm

I've been working on a score/sound design for a proof of concept trailer for a TV series so this is a finished version of the yet unfinished (approved) theme.

Going for a 60's spy vibe but with modern unsettling undertones.

Definitely got the unsettling part down haha.

Really different from what I'm used to hearing from you, but still very cool. smile

Haha, but of course.  I cranked the 'unsettling' slightly on this mix . smile
Yes different to my usual submissions seeing it's a commission piece really.  I enjoy the composing challenges this work brings though and also the challenge of still making it my own in my own subtle ways.  big_smile    He's a repeat client so that's always a good sign!

Cheers dude!

great stuff! indeed got that 60s filmscore vibe to it! Did you use real instruments? Sounds hyper organic!

Ah awesome!  Thanks.  The bass instrument is performed by me on a Fender Bass VI instrument.  The rest are virtual instruments.  I'm glad it's come across as organic as the goal was to use all organic instruments.  No synths etc so thank you.

Nice work, clarinet(s) sound amazing when they start playing together it reminds me of the middle section of the Adjudicator OST in Demon’s Souls. Sounds natural and good balance between tension and intrigue. would love to see it in context

Well done. Really I feel that vibe where something can go wrong...

Even though you wated a perfectly good opportunity to write a surf song this is good. Feels very Film Noir to me, tis great.

excellent arrangement and instrumentation
