Custom generative patch where the entire piece was created by holding down one key.  Samples used for the patch was from a recent studio collaboration I had with Japanese artist Noriko Tadano.

Hehe, cheers.  Sound design for the win.  tongue Well the final execution was the easy bit, it was more the recording, editing, layer and automation/manipulation control of the various sounds.  Basically I created a synth which makes this 'sound' when you press a key.  I could play some higher keys etc and the whole thing would be pitched higher.  Wacky synth right?!  Haha.

Thanks mate!  And yes, very excited for this collab.  We received an arts grant to make this happen.  Stoked.

That's really cool both that you were able to collaborate and that you created a synth that makes this sound by just holding one key.  It would be kind of interesting to hear another key pushed.

Don't get crazy now and push more than one key.  tongue I kind of designed it to be kept in that one key (no pun intended) but maybe I can do a follow up one time. smile

For sure mate.  Will def post any news/updates on my Instagram.  For others interested, you can find me as @rdomain on IG.  Cheers!

I wish I was better or just more educated with generative stuff.  I love the sound design in this especially how that stringed part sounds.  Was that taken from Noriko's Shamisen?  It sounds like it was bowed and pitched?  It's always interesting  to see your process on IG.

I used several samples.  All from Noriko and they were voice, shamisen and this Chinese bowed instrument which is the bowed sound you heard.  Each were fed into their own independent granular engines with filtering etc which creates that evolving generative effect.  So yes there was quite a bit of pitch shifting going on too!
