One take performance on the Lyra 8.  Reverb added in post.

A new instrument I recently acquired in which I was trying to create ambient sounds with. After some hours with only moderate success, I had had enough so decided to push things to the extreme and this thing came to life!

ps.  I have been having great success with ambient tones now but I thought I'd share this power piece first.

Really interesting dissonance in here. I like the end where it seems to be approaching harmony but gives up.

It creates a great sense of tension.  I especially liked when the distorted tone came to the forefront for a bit.

That stuff at the end is really cool. It almost sounds like voices. Hope we'll get to hear some of the ambient tones in comings weeks!

wow, lyra 8 looks insane

and sounds it too!  great piece!  favorited and downloaded.  love the tempo sliding

Wow this thing is evil. I love that static texture and the huge sound you're getting from that.

this is dark and evil. hard to handle.

Cheers.  Yeah it excels at those thick chaotic tones. I really enjoy trying to tame it but then it's great to just let it loose!

The ambient one was the following weeks.  smile. A really unique synth that one.  All tuning has to be done by ear.  It's a beast in every sense of the word!

Ah awesome.  Thanks and yeah, it is an insane bit of kit but great fun delving into it and experimenting.

I'll take that as a compliment so thank you.  smile If music has an effect on you, I believe it's done it's job.

The overall tone of the lyra8 is awesome.  So gritty and dark.  This could fit in any horror flick that has a damp poorly lit corridor.  Also it's really cool how it fluctuates like it's an engine.  It reminded me of how my lawn mower sounds when it idles smile

It totally excels at pulsing modulations and cross modulation.  It's definitely one unique synth and yes, perfect for lawnmower sounds.  Haha.
