As the Night Rain Falls Upon the Window Pane

This is a variation upon the main theme of the documentary I'm currently scoring.  Haven't had time to do something separate to this but that's ok!

This is the sadder variation of life not going to plan.  All done ITB but everything is played in using the Pro 2 as a midi controller giving it that organic ensemble rubato sound.

Ooof that piano sounds amazing.... may i ask what library that is from?  It's always been a challenge for me getting the strings to sound organic and not pad struck smile  Do you use faders or the mod wheel to tame them?  Love the somber chord progression too.

Everything sounds top notch as always and with a graceful mood. Beautiful
I donˋ t know if it is a good idea, to tell a professional  my thoughts, but I made a strange discovery: As a violinplayer , I find the bowtechnique of the strings very unnatural. The up down changes of the bow , when it stops for a tiny microsecond, need a little more realistic finesse. I think of more variety of the attacks, decays,….Do you hear what I see?

So evocative and mesmerizing. I like the delayed piano notes- just a smidgen.

Beautiful theme!

Beautiful. Very wide mix. Peaceful.

Bravo.

very peaceful and beautiful

Lovely piece.  Sounds like there is a soft almost vocal pad as a textural bed under the strings, which creates a really nice atmosphere.

so beautiful! heart

A documentary? What kind of documentary is that?

That groove is HUGE. The mix of that hard beating bass and the rubbery lead. All the other elements like the vocal sample or the woodblock hit, so tasty. The right sound that one would not expect but just works perfectly. Favoriting this one.

Cheers!  It's one of the NI ones.  Noire I believe.  I've enjoyed it and it's handy for subtle touches to the sound. As for the strings; yep!  I use a mod wheel which controls the expression as I'm playing in the different parts.  I think it's a must for strings and woodwind.

Thanks!  As for the constructive feedback, it's great to hear too!  So is it needing more variation of attack with each note (bow)?  Any maybe some shorter sustains on certain notes?  I've got the sustain a little longer than natural on purpose for lushness with the reverb.  Any more info would be great as I'm always trying to improve the realism and I'm NOT a violin player. smile

Thanks!  Yes, there's a choir softly underneath the mix of the strings.

Thanks!  Yes a documentary.  It's about this dancer who used to dance for the Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) in the 80s and then transitioned into wooden sculpture design once he was considered too old to dance.
