Approaching the Summit

This is a one take improvised performance using the Plumbutter and Cocoquantus by Ciat Lonbarde; along with a Strymon Mobius and an Eventide H9 for effects through a Yamaha mixer straight into my DAW.  No edits were made at all.  Not even the fade in and outs.  smile  Only mastering was done in post.

It's a longer one so get comfortable.

You're really doing sculpture here, except this is not with marble and wood but with sound textures. You use the synths to create these blocks of sounds and you chop, cut, smoothen, slice into them and deliver these tracks. The track morphs and evolves as we go.

That is such an accurate and amazing description, I completely agree.
I love how you transitions from distortion/chaotic sounds to clear synths, yet you know something is coming and lurking behind those moments of clarity.

Amazing soundscapes.  Quite the range of sounds from symphonic to super gritty. Would make a great soundtrack to an experimental film.

Thanks so much for the kind words..  I have snuck a couple of these instruments onto film scores in the past actually and only recently used them on a sound design job for a US TV series.  I've got another one of these long form style improvisations coming so stay tuned.  smile

Awesome sound design and textures throughout.  That initial bubbling synth reminded me a bit of of the intro to Depeche Mode's "clean" from Violator smile  The pads then take it into tension filled territory.  I really like how they flare out a bit with just the right amount of distortion/grittiness.  Def has those cinematic vibes you are so good with evoking.  The ending gave me goosebumps and the memory of how you get static electricity when touching an old tv screen smile  Nice work!
