Killer atmosphere. Really like it.

Pretty spooky, I'm ready to get off the reality train haha. In all seriousness, really cool atmosphere going on here. Really like that waterdrop-esqe synth 2:34 slathered in verb followed by warping string song, just tickles my ears.

excellent sounds tell an exciting story. The warmth of the subbass creates an important ballance to the cold and frightening higher frequences. Very good stuff.

Foreboding is definitely the theme in this one.  The dark atmosphere has a nice cinematic feel too especially when those strings come in.  I feel like this would go perfect with a suspense/horror film.  Perfect for witnessing the killer's day to day activities before he does his thang.  I can't tell if that's a campfire sample or the synth but it really adds to the track smile

Thanks everyone!  Yes, the only sounds used are the strings and a 'drum machine' which is the Pulsar 23 (campfire came from this). smile

I like how this one is built - it is really a lot of drones that play D but with different textures and variations. The evolution of this track is not based on melody but really on all the way textures move, evolve, fade in and out. This is inspiring!

a big compliment coming from me: this easily sits next to Ben Frost's best work

how do you do the strings?

The bass around 0:44 is remarkable (and again at 1:35). Kind of sits in this strange place where there's a hint of intensity without becoming intense, a semblance of cadence without feeling cadential: sustained in struggle, a remarkably difficult thing to achieve. heart

Great to hear! There's some minimal shifts in harmony but always returns.

Oh!  Well a big compliment indeed!  Ben does some fantastic work.  I've seen him live several times too which is a great experience.

That's awesome.  I love working on the precipice of musical elements.  I particulary love working with tones which are on the edge of totally exploding but they're balancing on the edge of a minimal tone with only hints of the chaos it's holding back.
