Zepto Shamanic Acting Abilities

hi!
i'm still loving prebeta testing the 'zeptocore' by zack scholl (see schollz.com for more info)... it's too much fun...

this week Zack added synchronization and more sequencing and a bass synth and... and... and... still adding...
to test sync, i syncd it with a finger-drumming max patch i made for monome zero controller(shows liquid-flow animation to the rhythm of finger-drumming)...
here's the video:

here's a few extra i did this week as well:

(separately, my monome zero grid was giving me probs since i first got it last year, but they solved the firmware on their own just recently, so i made this video to show my appreciation, but then i decided not to share it with monome/Lines community at all because my voice in the beginning sounds very sarcastic, and i'm not sure how the humor might come across there, so maybe y'all can help me decide, is it ok to venture out there with my voice and personality in a funny way like this? or does it come off as something negative? (i didn't mean anything negative... just really liked the wording "locate the golden pushbutton" y'know? but then, i focus so much on that maybe they'll think: 'what an ungrateful asshole, we get this firmware out mad and he's making fun of the wording!' ... well, anyways, now i've gone off on a tangent that has nothing to do with my actual weeklybeats track, but y'know this is also a glimpse into my whole mindset last week(this self-conscious crap), so i guess it is still very telling of my 'process' big_smile ...it's also telling of the fact that i feel more chill with the weeklybeats crowd than anywhere else, because y'all are so chill and welcoming, so i thank you for that heart and even though it's not my actual weeklybeats track, i'll just post the video here and nowhere else then big_smile)

these tracks up in public domain (under CC0).

When I was a kid I couldn't really imagine what music making would be like in the far off sci-fi sounding year of 2024.  But if I had to guess it would probably be something like this.  It certainly qualifies as futuristic. As for the DaizedBell video, I have no idea what that other community is like, but I hope they wouldn't be so uptight that they couldn't appreciate it.  I thought the beginning was pretty funny and the track itself is pure warped tripped out madness in the best possible way.

I know Zack's work with Norns but this is the first I'm hearing of Zeptocore. Super intriguing! I like how it's definitely granular and glitchy but doesn't pop in unpleasant ways.

Yeah, I reported that to Brian when I first got it, too. It took him a while to reproduce and fix but I'm very happy it works correctly now.

As for the humor in your video, I don't think it sounds sarcastic so you can share it with Lines no problem. If I'm offended by anything in that video is when you're searching for the button and the camera is hopelessly out of focus.

this is making me wanna crawl around on my belly and eat bugs

Really cool soundscape and textures.  The grittiness and bubbling sounds are especially appreciated.  Also oooooh pretty lights cascading yikes

also throughly enjoyed the gear exploring with the tron theme thrown in tongue d0000 d000 d00000000

Love it, came in kinda random and settled into a grove quickly. Some very cool sounds you get out of the Zeptocore. I will def keep this device on my radar. I'll check out your jams every week.

p.s. I was able to sample in your soundscape last week to make my beat for this week. I wish I had more time with all the sounds that came out. I had 24 "instruments" made on the Tracker Mini and I could have made more from all your sounds. In the long run I couldn't wait, stopped sampling and then started programming my beat.

Pretty lights!!! Very impressive.

A whole bowl of textures burbling, wowza. Nice results from your testing here. Videos were fun to watch. I like your vox on DaizedBell!

Damn this looks like quite the toy... As of now this is not something that I feel I could add to my workflows, but you can get crazy creative with something like that.

love the creativity of expanding your progress with new toys. It looks fun to play with keep up it up!

Really cool stuff here. I'm always super impressed with your more experimental rhythmic pieces and how far out you can take things while keeping heads bobbing. Appreciated the videos and getting a glimpse of the process as well. Excellent work as always heart

Insane sounds in an agreeable way.

Glitchy goodness!  I think your firmware upgrade vid is light-hearted good fun.  I do think it's funny that it's a golden button.  Like an Indiana Jones thing.

Lots of great source material here to explore even further I'd say!  The device looks interesting.  Similar form factor to the PO series by TE.

Dig it.

Some great sounds to work with, I think I will download and see if I can repurpose some of those sounds, thank you!

Oh wow what a cool track - these sounds are really awesome. Chaotic, fuzzy, glitchy. The little nuances like the delay at 2:20 are super nice touchs.

Nice! It's cool seeing the video of you jamming this out. Definitely a lot of interesting sounds that you've developed here, so "Alien" that it's hard to accurately describe them, haha.

i like the soft golden color of those liquid light thingies

Tasty ear candy
