Back on an upswing in energy again, let's hope i can keep this one going upwards cool
This one started from a max patch(output a loop to file(for a file to loop mad)), then imported to renoise to combine with my other samples, poorly played banjo(by me), even more poorly bowed banjo(also by me), VCV Rack2 plus Kaivo plugins... feels a bit directionless, but i suppose i was just going for a beat with a particular vibe within a short time. Hope ya like smile
Plus yet another one of my hastily-made audio-visualizer-vidz for this track made with Jitter:

Definitely achieved great atmosphere and vibe. Really enjoyed this one heart

awesome man, love the visualiser as well, I used to mess around with max and jitter a lot but I havent touched it in years now. Are you playing live in VCV and sending midi/osc to max?
The banjo was unexpected but it actually works nicely! Very interesting textures.

Wow the percussion on this is so good

Such a killer, killer groove to this -- you mentioned Max/MSP and I thought "Autechre" but this is a lot more FSOL-like (ISDN era, which happens to be my favorite). Remarkable tune, this. Sound design is ridiculous, and I love that primary bass sound. I really love how this unfolds: not a moment is wasted... I'll conclude that thought in a second...

But first, let's talk about your last week's entry, which is also remarkable regardless of whether or not comments are permitted or not (not questioning your decision to turn them off, but I still have shit to say). Stricken is really dope: that pad sound design / high-percussive sliding thing is badass, and I felt the way it unfolds is kinda perfect -- everything that happens has a reason and a trajectory. Jealous of that, and jealous even more of you doing that in Max.

However you're achieving this, I love the direction and the work. I like everything you put out this year, but these last two feel like a beginning of a record, and that's a record I'd like to own if fates allow. (Note: personally, I'm extremely dismissive of any input as to what direction I should work in 'cuz I have an agenda of things to try / do and I feel it's working for me and that means breadth over depth. Just saying I love these two a lot. And wishing you the best. And grateful to be colleagues in WB22. heart)

Wow,  ilzxc is right—I don't know how I missed that last week, but you've been crushing it lately!  The sound design has been particularly ott, with a really pro quality to it, too.

Thanks so much! I just recorded the max patch to file, then imported that to Renoise(nothing live... i've tried sending midi from Max to VCV(not the other way around though... i should try that, too), for whatever reason, Max doesn't recognize the VST version of VCV, otherwise i'd definitely try it all live within Max(i don't enjoy having to rewire/pipe audio through different apps... always that latency... so for now, i just record Max to file, then work that file-playback plus VCV as plugin, all within Renoise))... ha, now that i listen to it again, i agree the banjo comes in unexpected, i bet it'd work better with guitar(with a little flanger, etc.).. you've given me some good ideas to try next time wink

Thank You! (Tried some old-school hip-hop tricks to get that massive gated-reverb sound too, haha so much fun)

I'm so appreciative to hear this! Thank You! Been struggling to get more and more quality sound, this is inspiring and definitely encourages me to keep at this level of detail.

Much Love To All, Thanks Again, Everyone! heart

Lots of goodness in here with all the varying textures and an interesting workflow! Nice work on the Jitter visuals too.  I started to delve a bit back into Max last week for the first time for a while.  Just audio though.

Not to sound like a broken record but def enjoying all the sweet sounds and textures throughout.  From the crunchy bits in the drums to the fading synth flares.  Nice work!

Yo wtf cool weird you used Max/MSP?

Infinite Thanks! Audio in Max is always fun(it's how i started... still takes me awhile to get started on Jitter stuff, but makes more and more sense as i go, too), have fun!

Not broken at all!(<-my wording came out funny, but i'll just go with it, haha) I truly appreciate it! big_smile

Thank You! ya, i used Max/MSP for the weird clicky-poppy loop that comes in around 9seconds(got kind of a swinging rhythm to it), and goes all throughout(just recorded that to file, then worked with it among other things in Renoise).

Interesting mix of textures and moods here... the title fits well smile

I love all the plucky details in this one, very effective for me. Nice texture throughout!

love the track title, love the video, love ilxzc being all like LOL I COMMENT ON WHATEVER I WANT

this was cool and all, but when that gentle thing came in at 1:30, that really really surprised me.

random: you have the right to complain about anything at any time.  it doesn't diminish or make light of other people's struggles.  If you get dumped from a relationship AND there are kids starving in Africa, those are just two separate events.  Now, some complaining is less productive than others, but that's another issue.  I know we've related on the topic of depression and something that really hurt me was me telling myself that i'm not allowed to feel.  I know you didn't say that exactly, but I just want to be a bug in you ear about: Feelings Just Want To Be Felt.

So glad you liked it, and...
So True! You're absolutely right: "feelings just want to be felt" <-best advice for depression (i use meditation quite a bit to breathe through it all)
Thank You Immensely for all your encouraging words and for shining out the darkness from my universe with such a beautifully brilliant spirit! heart

I love the blending of wet and dry. really messing with my ears' reflex to figure out the space I'm in. massive low end too. that weird vocal granular stuff is so cool too.

also I'm really glad that you're back in the saddle and your energy is up.
