Enraptured Shadow

feeling conflicted about this one.. everything felt very.. 'cheesy'(and some of it sounds like something i've heard before.. can't quite place..).. but also, just had to get it out of me so at least there's that...
the underlying bed of music was samples and synths and FFT-processing(all a jumble) in max, then output to logic where i tracked the vocal, then back in max to vocode the middle-section of vocals through the FFT-processing further(sounds like a hi-res vocoder), then back into Logic for the final mix
and here's the lyrics:
Thrown where the leaves may fall
Under rotation of wandering cloud
So my tears may know
The soothing company of rain
Spilling out again in bleeding horizons
Where I may find home

This was my place, same as your escape
Why else would we go
Wherever leaves may fall
Under rotations of passed away stars
Whose spirits glow
Softly singing songs of our pain
Spilling out again in bleeding horizons
Where I may find home
That's where I roam
In bleeding horizons
Enraptured shadow
Where we may find home
Where we may find home

& here's a music-vid i made for it:

Thanks for checking it out smile

I don't think this sounds like much of anything else I can think of, totally works throughout. My favorite of the vocals is when the vocals are unprocessed & dry ("where we may find home"), this is dope.

Wow, absolutely love this. Doesn't come across as cheesy at all - just emotionally rich. The closest thing I can think of is some tracks from The Books. well, if the Books were into FFT processing in Max, anyway!

The percussive onslaught works really well. In the middle of the track, I feel like the excitement created by the voice and percussion create a mini wormhole to another reality, where there is a drum beat accompanying the instruments. This track is really just the upside-down world to an indie track or we're seeing through the looking glass of a track.

Thank you all so much for the feedback! Truly appreciated, definitely venturing outside my comfort zone with this track so I especially appreciate the thoughtfulness of the feedback here.

love the graphics, love the sound of these metal bowls, almost fast-forwarding and rewinding my mind
