Earthshine

I tried some stuff with my voice... i dunno how i feel about it... but i ended up learning where i might feel awkward and where i might feel comfortable in using my voice(not so much of that speaking-tone that tries to sound too funky... ends up sounding a bit like an 'oompa-loompa' voice, haha lol)... but it was also fun, to make a simpler style of pop song in Max/MSP(plus to make it this positive sounding and somewhat straightforward, the challenge was more about constraining so many things to leave it simple enough for there to be room for something lyrical...)...and here's the lyrics:

"When I saw you in a vision of sunlight
Right away I knew somehow I'd let you know
Like two hearts dance in tandem 'til the twilight
Lit by the feeling, moving slick as they flow
My reception tune to signals of your starlight
I felt you go supernova long ago
But I still drew in close just to feel you ignite
The darkest embers of our raging afterglow

However our love unfolds,
I will give you the world of space you need to grow
However you wake my soul,
the heart grows fierce even as we're dancin' slow
My reflection steals a shadow off your moonlight
But i delight to let your lovelight steal the show
Every direction leads me back to this same insight:
Love deepens more by how ya feel than what ya know
No hesitation, imagination brings it true
Your love it lifts me up, like no other could do
It's a must as I do bust, every masterful move
That I'm so bright and immaculate in all my love for you smile

Outro:
Our quiet dance within the noise
Our quiet dance within the noise
My darkness feels your light
My darkness fills up with your light...

I shared the max patch here(along with others from weeks before):
EarthshineMaxPatch

Here's a youtube vid of me performing the patch (with self-conscious text-commentary, haha):

Hope it's somewhat bearable. This week marks the beginning of the second-half of this year, so i figured I'd start to pull out some daring moves(using my voice is scary for me: feels like so much of myself put out in the open on display, from merely the sound of my voice)... you might hear more tracks with voice from me but i'll try not to ruin them all, hahaha big_smile

awesome to hear your voice - you've got chops! interesting and wise ideas in the lyrics too. unique juxtaposition with the frantic Max beats for sure smile brave move which sure sounds like it paid off to me.

this is so fun man, good experiment! the patch looks and sounds soo good too

a real fantastic track. it works very fine with the vocals, even it is a complex rhythm. well done

Awesome stuff man, I can’t comprehend making any type of lyrics let alone then also sing them.  This has a nice flow to the rhythm, doesn’t overpower the vocals yet is still varied and interesting.

I absolutely love how the voice works against everything else. There's dynamics to the delivery that does not mimic as much as "fit" the generative behaviors -- excited to hear more Raja singing. The bass sound is excellent, but judging from your video you 100% knew that already. heart

max seems like a lot of fun, of course you make it appear and sound a lot easier than I am sure it is. Always love listening to your creations.

Nice, I was digging the frenetic beat, totally smiling at the comments .. Phat bass, lol, then your voice surprised me when it came in. I dig it, so cool to hear!! It's hard to sing, you sound good! Nice lyrics, totally watched the whole thing, enjoyed the text on screen and all of it.

as someone who played an oompa loompa & had to sing the oompa loompa songs in a play this does not really remind me of that wink

the vocal performance here sits so well with the cool beats and soundscape - really digging this exploration!

Infinite Gratitude and Love To You All!
(really glad people weren't put off by my voice, and even liked these lyrics(i was worried they might be too positive/cheesy..)..) and yes, PHHHHHHAAAAT Bass! Glad it hit well, really excited to keep pushing myself in directions like this, thank you again for all this encouragement heart heart

this is sick, the vocal cut ups remind me of some of my most favorite Radiohead tracks

Love how dnb the track is, but like you said, kind of a pop music melody and upbeat vocals.  Great contrast.

Regarding the length maybe a breakdown would be cool?  The stutter step hi-hat and snare is so ridiculously good.  Awesome!

Much Appreciated(yes! a breakdown! that was sorely needed here... will keep it in mind for future stuff).. Thanks so much! heart
