While I did take orchestration classes in school, a lot of what I do on WB comes from layering simple ideas/patterns. Many times I build up using only a few notes (for example, the ostinato piano octave on this track). Also, I try to stick with instruments that sound convincing/realistic (since many sampled instruments can sound terrible.

Try narrowing down something to just a few instruments and see what you come up with. Then keep practicing it
