Tunnel crabs

By qp on February 22, 2026 9:01 pm

This week I messed around some more with tempo and ended up sampling a bass at different bpms to get a lot of varying sounds. They are scattered everywhere on this track. Got steered towards something dark and anxiety inducing. Tried some different song structures and due to time running out ended up with this.

I'm far from a lyricist. I usually have a hard time just naming my tracks. For some reason this was named "Tunnel crabs" very early on and I think it subconsciously influenced the sound a bit. Oh, and apparently they are a thing:

Tunneling crabs, such as Atlantic ghost crabs and mud crabs, create intricate underground burrow systems for protection against predators, extreme temperatures, and for molting. These crustaceans dig deep, branching tunnels in sandy beaches or mudflats, often surfacing at night, and rely on moist substrate to keep their gills hydrated.

Yasss! Love the stereo bass on this and the build to the end. Really cool evolving motions throughout the whole thing. A+ sound choices and vibes smile

This is a great spacious track! The hi-hats kinda sound like a swarm of crabs walking through a tunnel... spooky! Perhaps they are friendly crabs I hope?

Loved the BPM pickup too! Great track and deep sound design!

fucking hell!!! This is for sure my new favorite of your tracks, you just nailed it. Shit feels like i'm a little crab desperatly clinging onto some rocks, overlooking the sea, while challenging Poseidon himself.

Top tier, brother!

Did not expect this to end in a rolling techno groove! That was really cool. The atmosphere and sound design in your song is incredible. As a cancer, I also enjoyed the story of my crustacean people haha.
