Some more orchestral stuff. I'm not sure if it sounds too repetitive to me because I've heard it so many times in a row or if it actually is too repetitive. Please tell me what you think.

I also feel like I need to work more on the arrangement of these kind of tracks. If you have any tips or any good source to study - please share.

I wish you a nice week.

Yooo this is really dope! I don't really have a good ear for classical composition/I haven't spent a ton of time listening to classical pieces, but I'll just write what I hear smile

I really like how you're building up a single musical idea throughout this. There's a more restrained nature at the start and you got up to full energy in the last minute. There's a lot of tension that gets built up! It's repetitive in that you're developing the same idea throughout the piece, but you do it in an interesting way that feels like it's going somewhere. This feels like it would be the introduction to a longer classical piece, and you suggest there's more to come when everything goes quiet in the last five seconds. I'm curious what happens next after the drop at 4:20 smile.

Have you checked out evan's stuff on here? He was formerly a classical composer and now does more electronic stuff. I'd try and get his input on this - I think he'd have a lot to say!

Definitely not repetitive, and I think your arrangement is really good and sophisticated enough that you can teach yourself what you wanna learn - find a piece if music you love that's similar to what you want to compose and really break it down into parts and analyze it. I usually drop a wav file into my daw and label the shit out of it woth midi clips.

What might be adding to the struggle for you here are the instruments - they are all pushed back into the atmosphere, none of them really rising above the wash of reverb like they need to. This could be just too much reverb, or the instruments you're using could have been designed for "underscoring" - intentionally voiced so they don't stand out, of which there are many such instruments not always labelled as such.

If you have access to the reverb, turn it right off and see how the arrangement sounds, what stands out - good or bad - and what is still too subdued or becomes overpowering. Then maybe dial in the reverb etc slowly to modulate everythting towards where it needs to be.

Regardless this is a wonderful arrangement and you obviously have the skills to get you where you want to be heart

I got no input on this as its outside my knowledge, looks like you got some great advice above, all I can say is I really enjoyed this and nice to hear something fresh and different on weeklybeats.

Thank you very much for such a detailed response! I appreciate the take on "building on one idea" as it is spot on, and one of the biggest reasons on why I feel like it gets too repetitive. I'm glad you didn't experience it that way. Regarding the ending I feel the same way. Initially I thought about continuing the song but then I just realized that I really enjoyed the abruptness.

I'll definitely have to check out his stuff then, thanks!

Thank you very much for your words of encouragement! Importing a song you really like and then really dissect it is a great idea. I've tried it before and I do believe it is a great way of understanding a track on a deeper level.

Your comment on the amount of reverb, "reverb-wash", and "type of instrument" was really interesting and got me thinking this week. I'll admit I do have a tendency to be a bit heavy handed on the reverb, and here I've also used it to intentionally "soften" the otherwise harsh and not so high quality VST sounds. There is for sure a better way about doing that than drenching it in reverb though. Dialing in the amount while also selecting/automating the parameters of the instruments is on top of my to do list in the coming future. It is easy to become overwhelmed with the amount of instruments & tracks you quickly get on a track like this.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

I'm happy you enjoyed the track! Thank you!

Another great tune man! Amazing sections and everything evolves so well heart I can already hear great improvements on tso-04 compared to this one, keep it up!!

It's so interesting, as someone who's been fortunate enough to be part of your musical journey, to hear you explore this more orchestral stuff. As people already have mentioned, you for sure have the right ideas. The rest is just execution and learning how to get to where you wanna go.

But I wouldn't argue that this piece is in any way repetetive. It's a slow build, and it takes it's time. But it's constantly evolving and growing.

Kinda pissed it just ended like that though! More!
