Something a bit different this week. It prefers to be played loud.

I'll happily take any constructive criticism regarding the mix of the track. Please tell me your opinions!

Yo this is great. I will take you up on that feedback then.

for that kind of music i always feel like the pump is almost as important as everything else and for that id recommend to put a really "long" bassy fat kick in there because that will make it groove way more.

Usually people tell you to use short kicks and a strong sub but i think on trance ish music like that a longer kick with a heavy pumping effect on the bass (id also not duck the rest of the sounds equally much like the bass but slightly less) makes the whole thing

Also i feel like you are running into your limiter quite a bit because sometimes it seems to kinda want to limit down / duck a bit thus reducing volume. i think on a track like this its safe to put a softclipper in front of the limiter to add harmonics to most peaks instead of reducing volume

overall really solid job tho. favourited!

Two rooms, two atmospheres, I did not expect this transition after this contemplative and light moment, very pleasant to listen to it and get lost in it, and when the kick comes in and the ducking begins it is just what I wanted without knowing it, very Trance in the approach I find, and it works very well

we need more!!!!

This is great! I love the atmospheric start, and the way it built into a high energy track!

First of all - thank you for such a detailed response. Now that you mention the short kick and the importance of "pump" I totally feel a lack of it here. I'll for sure revisit this with a longer kick to improve the low end flow.

You're spot on about the limiter as well. Now when I relistened to the track with fresh ears  here on WB I can also hear some volume dips in the loudest part of the track. I think I overcrompressed everything and pushed it way too hard into the limiter to maximize the loudness. When I add the new kick I'll try to be more gentle and also implement the soft clipper.

Mixing/Mastering is very new to me and I find it pretty hard to navigate for some reason, so these comments from fresh ears helps a lot. Thanks!

Sometimes when you have two different ideas it can work well to merge them, it seems. It being unexpected was the point and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Glad you liked it! Thanks for listening.

Lovely cinematic beginning. When the trance sweeps in it fits so well! The lone piano at the end made me a little sad, but it's a great way to end.

Very meditative at the start, then got my head bobbing towards second half!

Really nice prod heart

That transition is smooth. Still a lot of focus on the strings/pads. the drum parts (claps etc) take quite a back seat. but as it morphs back to the "classic" it explains why. lovely piece!

Oh yeah. That piano and the buildup right out of the gate. The first half of this felt so sweeping and epic. What a treat. That midway transition ruled! You did something really incredible by merging what should feel like totally different songs into something that felt totally cohesive. Amazing work! heart
