slackly level

By Q-Rosh on October 23, 2022 8:07 pm

I made a slackly hiphoppy beat, with a clear and unprofessional impreciseness. I played guitars onto it, but that was harder to achieve than I thought, because every time I noticed I was falling out of the rhythm, I had to do a quick reboot, to get back on the track. of cause this are the first and only takes I recorded and I find the result intangible and unpredictable. (like: what is he doing there? when comes the next big failure? how worse can it get anymore? ect.) the song sounds gruesome and suffering, like a tape that is changing the speed, because the rubberband is old and slackly. this jam is experimental, with a very simple setup, a refusal to play straight and tight, run riot frustrated antiperfectionism, because I already know, I will never do something brilliant, like the new awesome red hot chili peppers album that came out this week. holy shit. I do not even want to try to be a little guitarman anymore. that is my true unquantized Level 42.

quite the loveliest of dreamy grooves heart

Oh wow the tone of some of these guitar liiiiines. Sooooo smooth! That beat is really nice! It feels like it ebbs and flows, the two tracks are dancing around each other is a subtle harmony. I like your philosophy of embracing the non perfection! smile

I have yet to check the new RHCP album - I have heard good things about it and Frusciante is an extraordinary guitarist.

Honestly brilliant piece. Who are the red hot chili peppers? wink

The guitar tones were nice to bliss out to.  The rhythmic oddities just added a good layer of unpredictability to the proceedings.

Honestly the slack is what makes this extra comfy, just a nice tune to be lazy to and let the messed up tempo take you wherever. It's mind warping in a good way.
Thanks for the heads-up on RHCP btw.

The guitars as always sound awesome and immaculate.  Those underlying pad swells are extra calming and really help set the mood.  Especially when the filter opens up a bit on them.  Thank you for reminding me about the new RHCP.  They've released so much lately!  smile

Enjoying the swirl of guitar and skittery beats.  There's a gentle and warm vibe to this.  I feel like I'm basking in the sun.

And wow, I didn't realise RHCP released another album!  I'm hoping it's something different to their usual.  I'm a big fan of Flea's playing.  I teach it a lot.

I'm enjoying this. A beat to bob the head and chill to, and wow, amazing guitar work. I totally thought of Frusciante before I read your description. A new RHCP?! so soon after the other, thanks for mentioning that, gotta go check it out now! One of my wife and my faves! We saw Smashing Pumpkins and Janes Addiction this week, which took us back, but we both said, next we gotta see RHCP, on the bucket list!

I love how you've leaned right into that dreamlike wonkiness, with some really soulful guitar that sounds extra lovely in this context. Long life perfectly imprecise rhythms!
