rewind button

By Q-Rosh on November 27, 2022 9:48 pm

this is a longer example of several jams on my OP-1. last week I was recording 17 GB of this stuff and now I have the dilemma what to use from the endless material. there are lot of nice moments and lucky accidents. for this week I abused the rewind button. the idea came from my friend DJ Brigadier Voka used to scream " rewind.. and come again...."! while he did the rewinds on the turntable with his Reggae records. I used the OP-1 function to mix 3 individual tracks together and for several breaks. for this track, you better take a relaxed time out.

Listening to a Q-rosh track is a "listening experience", the "experience" having to be all uppercase. It is a journey through different soudscapes, emotions, colors. It is beyond the audio experience, it brings all sorts of images and emotions along. There is nostalgia, epic times, contemplative times, intimacy and huge sense of space. Every second of this 632s track matters.

This is really an epic journey that hits many different moods and vibes along its travels.  And the rewinding noises are for sure a highlight.

This just sort of feels nice all the way through.

you nailed it!

this is like a full q-rosh ep in one sitting!  i love it!

Yes “rewind my selecta”, that is a great effect with the rewind, this is such a rewarding listen, each time that rewind button is hit it’s the next chapter of this song.

Nice things happening. I like the mallet sounds. Love the story about your friend. Fun DJ's who yell things are great. Cool idea to tie the ideas together with the rewind, sweet.

Love the drifting feel it has throughout as it progresses with the beats.  The mellotron solo was so soothing.  That extra deep synth that comes in towards the end was a nice touch as well.  Really cool idea from your friend.  Nice work!

Beautiful strings really give this a nostalgic feel. Like rewind and memory are intertwined. I like how it continues to fill out. Nice warm swell at 1:44. Cool section at 3:21 where it breaks down to a reverb dream sequence. Epic journey through so many tones and moods.

Great OP-1 work!  I've been meaning to have a heavy session on mine for a while.  Dig the almost wonky beats and the OP-1 always has this nice crispy tone to it.  Nice one!
