peace bug

I kept the length of this one in a regular size... good, but the content sounds a little bit outta space, not to say, like an insect wargame. I squeezed my OP1 for this song and played a few notes on the pianet.
Have fun.

A miniature epic mind-melting space journey.  Lots of ear candy in here.

rad, I like the more droney thing you've got going here.

crazy ride - i dig the good vibes in the beginning especially and the more mysterious tone near the end

Definitely sounds from another planet, if not universe. Nice work, I really enjoyed this one.

I am curious on how you go about creating that kind of tracks. They seem like an organic thing that evolves - is that some long jam, with then adjustments later? Do you have an idea/direction before you start?

I try to answer your nice question: Mainly I record on an EHX-Looper, ZOOM H6 or Tapemachine while I am experimenting on the machines or with the effects.  Having a enoungh material I build up an arragement with parts of the jam in Ableton. I do have no plan in my head while I am creating a track. It is a try and error thing, waiting for lucky moments to occur. Sometimes I bring in wav files from different projects, that need to be pitched or timeadjusted, to have another flavor. And of course I can record tracks onto my computer as well, but it is easier to record outside the DAW onto a recordermachine on the fly and bring the SD-cardsamples into the project afterwards.
But from time to time I have a good run and only a few adjustments need to be made in the computer and I leave the recording as it is, the mistakes included. Thank you for asking.

Miniature epic was a good description, as if a story is being told. The noises are harsh yet pleasant and interesting, and blend well with the pads. Nice touch with the mellotrony flute at the end.

Those bubble synth sounds in the intro are killer! I hear the electro insects buzzing through the solar wind pollenating photons or whatever they do.  Love the sweeping effects and sound design.  Crystal clear and super crispy. The underlying bass tones and symphonic elements are perfect foundation for the chaotic elements. Very cool!

Lots of really cool stuff going on here. Everytime someone here does a track with the OP1, it just intensifies my impulse to buy it.

Give bugs a chance. You really did that in a wunderbar way with this musical piece. An up-to date avantgarde composition. Gratulation

yes, an insect wargame, with some introspection happening as well, planning and events on a grand insect scale for sure. Great sounds and depth as always. Cool to hear your process above. I so similar sometimes, record stuff, capture the moments as they happen then dump into ableton to finish.

Tons of things happened panning wise that is a great idea which i don't take advantage of much. The drone keeps it together. Feels like a marathon, everyone running to the end in a mad dash

[First Half] I love the heavy psychedelic vibes from those sustained tones: wonderful wonderful wonderful distortion tone. Love the space of the mix -- absolutely wonderful content to do that with.

[Second Half] I wish this was 10 minutes. big_smile

I like the droney element, slowly shifting, it's very hypnotizing, very cool!

man, I don't know how you do it, but this is so confusing and so narrative at the same time.  I don't get it, but it makes sense.  It doesn't make sense, but I get it.

really enjoyed the PHONE usage in the second half.  The melancholy instrument playing right before the end was beautiful.

I hear great confidence in this piece.

Love how that synth sounded in the first half of the track.  So much rhythm bouncing about in those chords.  Then it transitions into a peaceful bubbling bath of mellowness.  No idea how you got all those cool bloops, bleeps and glips but they sound awesome.  Well done!

maybe the bugs just be glowin'?

That granular-ish beginning is heavy-hitting, very cool, I like it, particularly the pacing and the way it bounces back and forth between those two main chords, with bits and pieces of others appearing sometimes. It’s very different but it kind of brings to mind the intro of Seneca by Tortoise. Then that second movement which is sort of peaceful but carries over a frenetic edge from the first part… Nice work.

Great use of the OP-1 and I like how it takes this demented turn later in the track. smile
