mystery song (@romanotlv)

dear weeklybeatly friends. could you please help me to identify this song, I was sampling and chopping. I know it is illegal to steal music and make new songs out of it, but in this case I had to do so, because I made this unknown recording and can not find the originator. until now, there is noone, who can be pissed of (and I did spend more than a week to chop and slice the recording and pimp up the bad lofi iphone quality. I am so proud.)
the backstory goes like this: In August I was in Tel Aviv with my kids. one night, after an endless search for food, we ended up in this marvelous spot called Romano, Jaffastreet 9. I could not believe what I saw. The retaurant was so megacool, because the room was filled with vintage hifi components including gigantic speakers. a DJ was playing vinyl records, very very nice soul jazzy funky grooves... while we were eating the most unbelievable supertasty food, it really has a Michelin Star (!!!!!), I was checking the songs the DJ played with shazam, but this track here was not detectable. Even at home I had no luck, the lyricfinders could not help as well. I can hear the refrain: take me back to the earth where I belong...
I did a short iphone memorecording in the restaurant for a few seconds, but the kids and my friend who took us there, had intensive conversations about god and the world at this moment and the backgroundnoise was pretty nondezent. I was deep in the music at this moment... because the song was nearly as good as the food.
I hope so much, you can help me to solve the mystery of this song and I highly recommend this location, if you are in the middle east.  www.facebook.com/romanotlv/photos

Welp I just spent a good 20mins trying to figure it out too smile  I agree it has some super catchy riffs and breaks to it.  Were you able to decipher any other words? "Take me back to the earth" tends to bring up alot of spiritual (almost country) songs rather than anything funkalicious.  The closest funkwise I found was Michael Jackson's "Take Me Back" but the music was more of a ballad and not a funk number.  The part at 1:40 almost sounded like Mos Def.  It probably isn't but that one snip that repeats sounded like his voice.  For all we know it could be another song sampling an older song? I do enjoy a good audio mystery though I hope the WB crew or yew can figure it out.

Something about the bass line sounds familiar, but I can't really understand most of the lyrics. Good luck trying to figure it out!

I could not figure it out either. The DJ was probably sampling multiple tracks, making it even harder to figure out. But the weekly beat team might be able to figure it out!

Yes, it sounds like a bit of a mash up to me.  No idea sorry!

I found songs called Back to Earth by Jason Mraz, Starset, and Rusted Root as well as one by Lucy Hale and Snoop Dogg that was apparently in a movie called Dog Gone Trouble.  I also found a song called Take Me Back to Planet Earth by some band called Muck and the Mires.  None of these appear to be this song though.  Shazam doesn't identify it for me either.  No clue!

I don't have the slightest idea, though it was a funny nice story smile

haha, no idea, so funky tho, and soulful heart

...i searched and couldn't find anything close, but ...even tho it's not what you're looking for at all, i'm glad you helped me discover Marie Modiano as a result of all this searching:

amazing guitar!!!!!! thank you, sir.

Wow, that sounds like such cool experience you had, that restaurant sounds amazing. I wish there were good DJ's like that more where I'm at. You found a true rare groove, what DJ's are always on the hunt for, and some of them keep secret! Cool chops and audio cleanup from iphone recording, sounds good, dig it.

food adventure sounds wonderful - asking around about the song...

Holy Shit that is RADDD slicing and sampling.  Love the lofi crush distortion. I like the conversation leaking in at the end. Sweet!
