this week I neglected my comfort zone and made some music with old equipment, which I almost forgot how it works. the intro/outro is a reel to reel pianotapeloop and ambient vocals with lot of hiss, because the Grundig and the tape are over 50 years old, too. the next dinosaur I spent time with, was the MPC1000. I wanted to make a hiphop track, but came out with something completely else. a little guitar and some ebow and fuzz on the top of it and it was somewhere else. the mixdown took a while, because I wanted the sound to be fat and warm.

I like this better than hip hop... closer to trip hop which I used to listen to a lot of back in the day!

It's got that warm December feel to it all thanks to the old gear.

That is quite the trip. The fuzzy guitar tones are great. All those drums samples sounds very nice too. Like the Jazzy vibes on steroids.

loved the places this track brought me, floating along a river till I found a club in the middle of a nowhere in particular with this amazing band just jamming away, waiting for Thom York to appear and ride the vocals.
Great track!

beautiful and cinematic. the mixing is warm. All the unexpected changes and switch ups are excellent and take the listener on a journey,  like a mini movie soundtrack

This didn't go where I expected at all from the intro (which was beautiful).  The fuzzed out guitars sounded huge especially by the end.  You definitely succeeded in getting a fat warm sound.

oh this is such a beautiful homage... it's like

also i'd love it if you submit this to my friends x-mas show on WPRB

spectacular! heart

Fantastic mix, certainly achieved that fat and warm sound, very nice intro leading into the great beat and programming, has a jazzy/hiphop/ninja tune vibe to it.  Wow that guitar was unexpected in the best way, this  just keeps getting better as you listen.  I recently purchased a used MPC live, definitely a big learning curve and different workflow to learn on that equipment.

Definitely lovely and analog sounding.  Love the build near the end and also the hissy warmth in the intro/outro.

Wow blown away!  The meditative intro and then the trip hop/ninja-tune-esque jam that resurrects Hendrix on guitar? It sounds awesome with the drums.  The piano loop really stabilizes the whole thing but wow awesome work!

Really cool ambient soundscape.  Always amazed... you must have a warehouse of old gear and tapes. The jazz transition is crazy good!  This is true electronic experimental music like the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Brian Eno. You're a master of the tape machine. Outstanding!
