drone work

By Q-Rosh on July 12, 2020 11:42 am

This time I started with drones, I did with the guitar, using several effectpedals. The next thing was to record my piano with an old Grundig tapemachine and the old Grundig microphone. I made several loops out of the pianotrack. Then I wanted to add some more instruments and I decided to record a Glockenspiel and my mothers Zither. It was by chance the day of her death, 8 years ago. This was a nice coincidence to choose the Zither at this moment, unwittingly. She would have tuned it properly, I guess.

The whole experiment, between the choice of instruments, the tool for recording, the fact that it was also linked to your mother. It is so organic and has that warm tone of nostalgia, like an old sepia film. This is awesome and inspiring.

There's some really cool ideas you played around with here, and I think as a whole it turned out amazing. Great work.

I agree there's a feeling of traveling back in time and revisiting half-forgotten memories.  Love the big buildup around the three minute mark.  An excellent tribute to your mother.  I expect she would be proud, even if the Zither isn't properly tuned.

There's a lot of amazing sounds and textures in here, really great work!

Definitely some movie soundtrack vibes in here. I love the tape machine piano.

This is really lovely. I really like the acoustic stuff with the psychedelic filtering.

take me with you dont leave me here alone why do you always do this to me

thanks for that feeling with your waves

Fantastic sound you produced here, piano has such a nice warbled sound to it, love the use of the glockenspiel in the second half.  This one reminds me of “Natural Snow Buildings”, check them out if you have some time.

The zither is sooo cool, it makes this feel incredibly ancient and grand somehow. This is beautiful, the out of tune piano is also such a great touch. Nostalgic, and dreamy and ethereal. Love it.

Wow, great sounds ... this conjured some good space.

This is really beautiful work, and the zither is an appropriately haunting voice.

It wasn`t intended to be a tribute song in the beginning and she was never a big fan of my music. But I still will keep that Zither for special effects in the back of my mind, as long as I can not afford a harp.

Thank you. The recording of the piano on tape works very fine. Better than digital I think.

That´s nice. I used the phaser effect of the voodoovibe effectpedal. It made this jet-plane effect.

this are really deep and serious feelings. That is more than I expected, what the song could initiate. Thank you, too.

Shit.“Natural Snow Buildings” do, what I wanted to do. They are so cool. Now I have to find another style, that is not assigned.

Thank you very much. I wasn`t shure about the song, but I start to like it too.

This is very kind. Thank you, onezero!

Love the way the piano sounds with all the other instruments (like the glock).  This had a really emotive feel to it with the tape machine sound.  Nice work!

mmmhhh Fine. Love it. Very sensefull!

Zithers are so temperamental and hard to tune. They sound great here though, esp. with the lo-fi piano. Beautiful composition
