disc over

By Q-Rosh on January 7, 2018 8:18 pm

I am starting here with new loops and a 13 year old recording of my little daughters voice.
First of all I tried to create a kind of moody song. Then I was looking for something refreshing and found an old Minidisc-recording of 2004. I liked the combination of melancholy and a fed up, happy child narrative.

Nice to see you back!  This really does create a nice downbeat but pretty mood.  I got a little startled at first when the samples of your daughter's voice kicked in, but I think they work nicely.  I also like the touch of the violins.

Tasty guitar work. Great texture change when her voice comes in. Very sehnsucht-y.

Interesting "digital raindrops" in the beginning.  Nice reverb/delay.  Shoutouts to MiniDisc!

I got scared by the samples :-O

Hey Q-Rosh,
cool das Du wieder dabei bist!
Der Track ist einfach nur schön!
Obwohl der Background im ersten Teil schon vermuten lässt das da irgendwas Böses wartet...

Nicely flowing guitar with the digital drips.  Sets a mood.  Your daughter sounds like Yoko Ono.  Haha.

Wie geht's mein Freund? Great to hear you again!

Nice track indeed. I love that bubbling texture on the sides, and all the ambience you built using your daughter's voice.

Whoah, MiniDiscs!!! I brought mine out of the drawer not long ago. Love to hate those things, specially when you nailed a take and sudenly "TOC got corrupted". But those shiny colours and the tiny labels... You can't hold .flac files in your hands and label them with a good marker smile

Beautiful work--fine, understated guitar line that takes on an additional dimension when you fade in the Univibe-like processing.  Nice use of the field recordings here, too!

Oh, the narrative is strong in this one. Thanks for the track.

good to see you back! the textures you create with music are always so interesting. i am excited for another year of them!

Lovely guitar work with the interesting textures percolating around the edge.  Nice job!

AUGH the feels T_T

I am still holding on to a MD in the hopes that someone, someday can work some magic and fix it.

Great work - love the guitar and digital dripas along with the sibilant textures.

Really nice track. Well done

Hi orangedrink, did you try another MD-Player yet? Maybe another laser can read that toc!!!

Ooh, only had the one MD, but will have to find another and try this - thanks!

ahaha omg this is really interesting... the way the vocal sample comes in is quite destabilizing
it's a bit sad this is under CC ND because it would be great to sample / remix, really love the guitar playing
the sound textures are also interesting, creates this alien soundscape

so fascinating!  really lovely & moving

Hello XC3N, as far as I understood, you can remix my stuff under CC ND, but do not distribute the new results. I think a remix for WB is always welcome, but you better don`t sell that. OK?

ND is no derivative work, which prevents me from adapting your work into something else.
NC is non commercial and makes me unable to sell it

...But now I have your implicit permission! smile

(PS all my work is CC BY, AKA do what you want as long as you credit me; but if if I remix you I'd use BY ND NC)

lovely melancholic, i´m on the journey of transformation

Sehr sehr schöner Song!
Auch der mix, Aufbau und ende sind Perfekt!

Thank you all for the gentle comments. And thank you all for your inspiring music.

Nachträgliches herzliches Hallo. Jetzt, da ich schon Woche 2 von dir kenne, bekommt "disc over" als gefühls- und herzerwärmender Vorläufer einen Extrapunkt. Zwei super Einstiege ins neue Jahr. Viel Erfolg und viel gegenseitiges Beschnuppern wünscht R.

I love bringing things back from the past. Well done!

Finaly I made it to Weekly Beats Q-Rosh. Thank you for the inspiration. Great Track by the way!
