Shiva - TALA (phliip remix)

I really liked the original mix so I wanted to preserve its essence and mood as much as possible while adding some twists and placing the elements in a new context. I switched out the ethnic percussion in the intro for an amen break to give it a more drum and bass feel. I extended the impact of the melodic elements in the chorus sections and this experimentation led me to settle on a cinematic twanged string sound sound supported by synth brass sections. I’m glad to have invested the time exploring on this project as I have learned some valuable lessons about creating space; mixing and composition. Mostly - what I learned on this project is: less is more. I spent a lot of time subtracting elements and attempting to simplify the journey through the composition.

Love those "scattered" ragga vocal snippets about the middle of the song. Feeling some Hudson Mohawke influences in here.

Could you bump that tabla elements up in the mix?
