phliip x luke - process v3.3

Well... This has definitely been a journey; and a learning process; thanks to all of you that have left comments and suggestions on the previous two versions or DM'd me about them; they are definitely being taken into consideration. I have really enjoyed slightly deviating from the Weekly Beats format to explore this track a little deeper. Its been super rewarding to actually work a little bit longer on something than a week. However; it's not been without its challenges either. I am beginning to get a little stuck; not knowing where to take the thing next; and getting stuck. I have committed to completing this track; but I think I might give it a break next week.
I love the weekly beats format. It has simply done more for my production than anything else. But I feel like the tracks I make in a week are cool sketches; but never a fully developed idea that I could use as a release. Sometimes I will stumble into a good idea; but I don't always feel like a week is long enough to see it to completion.
For example; on this track; I want to consolidate what we have done and mix it for a week; then master it for a week; then send our rough master to a profesh engineer and get a proper master done. All of this takes time and work; but it all also pays off in the finished product.

I do however feel like I am missing the creativity of creating a sketch; and finishing a rough idea in a week.

Collaboration has been a really awesome process as well. I always feel like I need to push myself that little bit further when I am collaborating with another artist; and I love getting to work with someone else; with a completely different skillset; and a completely different way of expressing themselves. It creates a whole bunch of interesting experiences that I would never have come up with by myself.

Anyway; I hope everyone is keeping healthy during the lock down; and using the opportunity to explore their creativity.

much love

Philly

daaamn. That snare cut-off is legit. The drums are on point and the piano tone is clutch. I really enjoy the random speed-ups as well. Great production man.

Love this progression and the melody.  What a hook! Great sounds all around. Epic sound!

Love it. Great clean production, nice song. The main sound in the chorus might be a bit too loud.

Amazing. Thank You.
I agree about that sound; after living with it for a bit it's quite clearly too loud; but it seamed to make sense at the time... I'm kinda thinking about replacing the synth; or at least blending it with vocals and hopefully smoothing out the edges; and I think that will hopefully make the impact a bit more coherent...
