phliip - wednesdays

By phliip on August 23, 2020 8:15 pm

This track represents my infatuation with the mysterious and the macabre.

In the last few years I have become somewhat sick; and for one reason or another I experience a midweek crash of exhaustion. All the energy drains out of me; I become more pale than usual and my eyes look dark and set into my skull. This peculiar phenomena usually occurs midweek around a Wednesday or a Thursday.

One time when I was in the depths of it, I fired up Ableton and weaved together these etherial orchestral samples into this deliciously haunting theme. Soon after a suitably haunting theme is established I get my razor blade out and slash right through the central arteries, blood pissing out everywhere: slicing and dicing like a man possessed… as if the ghost of my evil aphex twin was stalking me through dark and decrepit recesses of my mind…

And so we have this sonic artefact to serve as a depiction of my infernal explorations.

I found the process to be therapeutic; and I hope you can too on some level…

If not… get professional help… I know I will!

This song feels like it belongs in a space horror, like it truly belongs there.

This is an haunting/haunted track. The strings have this dark epic flair to them and the choir adds a nuance on top of that. I definitely get the aphex twin from the tortuous beats and slicing/dicing of the original progression. This is really a fascinating track, down to the bells at the end.

I hope you'll feel better but it's good you get some relief from making music and that in the process we got such very very good tracks.

Nice use of the orchestral and choir parts.  The crunchy big beat had that "come to daddy" aphex punchiness.  Well done!
