phliip - wavvy

I had a really interesting time working with this beat. The central theme emerged from me experimenting with a new way of doing things that I would have never really have thought of under normal circumstances. I got a bunch of samples together and made a chaotic beat out of them; then I sampled the output of that and mapped the remaining pieces to a midi controller, then I started composing rhythmically with them with the grid turned off… Through this process an organic melody and feel slowly emerged and it was something I never would have got to had I not indulged my sense of exploration.
The starting composition was way to chaotic to work with; and completely un quantise-able  but it had shown me the rough structure of what I wanted to give further form to. So I turned the grid back on, went back to the original samples and tried to recreate the pieces of organised chaos and grace into something more coherent.
I’m really pleased with the result; the melody and particularly the vibe. When I listen to the piece and look at the collage; I can feel my mind wondering to beautiful places and reminiscing on feelings of awe and wonder.
I have some lyrics for this piece that I may integrate into a new composition further down the year; but for now I’m very happy with the instrumental version.

You can find the collage on youtube here; https://youtu.be/6Zs_0rBR5o0

I really wanted to properly attribute the artists who’s work I used to make the collage for my youtube artwork; but due to the somewhat chaotic, creative nature of how it all came together; I couldn’t find all of the proper attributions - but I have done my best below.

from left to right; top to bottom
Unknown Church, unknown photographer
Lady - by Natalia Seth; Serene Waters
Wave - photographer unknown
Jars - Pastel Blob Art by Lousie Zhang
Sky - Angie98222 - tumblr
Skydivers - artist unknown

Niiiiiiice, this really builds into a nice sonic universe, it has a lot of character and drive! Good idea for the collage, I feel it meshes well with what you composed. I picture the bottles releasing clouds of colorful patterns in the air. Well done!

its hectic but its a chill track

excellent drums and stereo mix, super wide and spacious soundstage

Loving this one. I haven't hear that "chaotic" early sample source, though you worked it into a really original and enjoyable groove.

Please post your Youtube links in the description as embedded Youtube posts, as mentioned in the BBCode rules, so your wonderful collages could shine
