Wolf & Goat No. 2

By parappayo on June 10, 2026 12:33 am

This one turned out a bit... unruly. smile I leaned into it being a bit loud and fuzzy.

As with "Wolf & Goat No. 1" this track features the raw analog drum sounds of the Akai Rhythm Wolf paired with distorted (DS-1X) 303 bass (the "goat.") I did a few things differently this time: I used the bass instrument from the Rhythm Wolf (square wave), I heavily applied "howl" distortion, and every part is MIDI sequenced on a Polyend Tracker (although nothing was sampled into the Tracker and no audio from the Tracker was used.) I manually tweaked lots of parts while it was playing.

Everything was finished in Bitwig. The 303 part gets Arturia Tape-201 wildly modulated delay, I used a noise split on the Rhythm Wolf to attenuate some rogue frequencies (on the previous track I tried to surgically remove them with notch filters in EQ+), and I put a little bit of cozy reverb on the whole thing to make it slightly less dry. But mostly I'm just letting the Rhythm Wolf go nuts and do its thing here.

Yes, more Wolf! Dig the nonchalant FU attitude this track eludes. The drumbeat is both precise and sloppy in a lovely way, and the acid backs that up nicely.

+1

Really love the woozy galloping drums. It reminds me of a glitched out vintage drum machine preset

This track is doing its very best to try and convince the officer that it's 100 % sober. Respect
